    RCH staff and students who are registered Library members may have access to EndNote for Windows or macOS. You can install at work and at home. Contact us to get access.

    If you are MCRI or University of Melbourne staff or student, you should request EndNote access from your institution.

    Library Training

    We offer regular training sessions on many aspects of using EndNote including how to organise references, images, PDFs and other files in a library, and inserting references directly into your document using Cite While You Write.

    Attend a Demonstration session, or follow along in hands-on tutorial sessions for beginner and intermediate levels. Charges apply for EndNote training.

    Quick FAQ

    Should I upgrade?

    We recommend you always have the latest version, so follow the links in EndNote when prompted to upgrade. If you're using an RCH computer you must contact IT to have the upgrade installed.

    Can I upgrade on top of my previous version?

    You should uninstall previous versions before a major upgrade (e.g. from X9 to 20 or 21), but it's not necessary for a minor upgrade (e.g. from 20.1 to 20.2). Always back up your library before a major upgrade.

    Will I lose my library if I upgrade?

    No, but it's always a good idea to back it up first.

    Can I keep my library in the cloud?

    Never keep your working library in a location that syncs to any type of cloud service, including iCloud, Dropbox, OneDrive etc. Nor should you run it from a USB drive, or a network drive. It is, however, safe to store a backup of your library in any of these locations. More info here.
