The Royal Children's Hospital (RCH) is committed to the implementation of the Safe Patient Care (Nurse to Patient and Midwife to Patient Ratios) Act 2015 & Amended Act 2019.
The Safe Patient Care (Nurse to Patient and Midwife to Patient Ratios) Amendment Bill 2020 successfully passed through the Victorian Parliament in late November 2020 to further strengthen and protect nurse and midwife, to patient ratios. In this second phase of amendments there were three additional impacts for the RCH, over and above the existing changes, which commenced in March 2021, and again in July 2021.
The RCH publishes our mixed ward ratios every February and August in compliance with the Act.
