Cardiology Referral Process

  • Outpatient clinics take place daily during the working week (Monday to Friday). Each Cardiologist has two or three clinics per week.

There are special clinics for patients with arrhythmias, cardiomyopathy, pulmonary hypertension and for post transplant follow-up, though new patients should usually be referred initially to a general cardiology clinic. These clinics are conducted by all the cardiologists.

Patient referrals may be addressed to individual cardiologists or to "Cardiology Department" and addressed to:

    Dept of Cardiology
    Royal Children's Hospital
    Flemington Road
    Parkville
    VIC 3052

To arrange an appointment date/time, patients or doctors should phone the outpatient clinic appointments office on (03) 9345 6180 or fax (03) 9345 6001.

A referral form can be downloaded using this link Cardiology Referrals.  Please note, a typed referral letter is also required.

Patient or parent phone contact details must be included for the referral to be considered valid.

If difficulties are encountered in organising your appointment please call the department secretaries on (03) 9345 5718.

For any urgent enquiries please call switchboard on 9345 5522 and ask for the on-call Cardiology Fellow.
