The information in this section is the same as that in the Schools Pack on diabetes which is distributed across Australia. Although much of this information is covered in other parts of this book, this section is included so you know what information your child’’s school has. The package was the result of an initiative of the International Diabetes Federation’s Consultative Section on Childhood and Adolescent Diabetes, all member organisations of Diabetes Australia and endorsed by the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation Australia.

The Schools Pack consists of:

• a coloured flip chart, suitable for hanging up, containing the information in this appendix
• a coloured poster for the staffroom wall, to which your child’s photograph should be added
• a medical alert information card for the student’s records
• a note for parents (as below).
