Outreach Education

Outreach Education programme

Plane

An Outreach Education programme is available to hospitals throughout Victoria, Southern NSW and Tasmania.  Contact the PETS Coordinator for further details and costing.

A seminar can be tailored to the needs of staff in your hospital.  The seminar can include the following topics (but is not limited to these): airway management, fluid resuscitation of children, management of child trauma, asthma protocols, management of the shocked child, preparation for transport, cardiopulmonary resuscitation, and care of neurological emergencies. Four experienced Paediatric Intensive Care staff members conduct the sessions.  It is a lecture-based program with ample opportunity for questions, small group discussions and demonstration of equipment.  A practical component can be offered, allowing small group participation in intraosseous needle insertion, CPR, measuring cervical collars, log rolling, and scenario teaching.

We believe the education sessions are beneficial and relevant to a broad population of health care professionals.  We therefore encourage participation of hospital staff that either have limited exposure to treatment of paediatric patients or to those experienced paediatric staff that wish to consolidate or expand their knowledge of the care and resuscitation of severley ill children.
