Kookaburra - Cancer Care ward is part of The Royal Children's Hospital Children's Cancer
Centre (CCC) - the largest partner in the Victorian Paediatric Integrated
Cancer Services (PICS), and the only provider of complex
children's cancer care and stem cell transplantation in
Victoria.
The Kookaburra - Cancer Care team of specialist medical,
nursing, research and allied health professionals provide care and
services to meet the clinical, physical, social and psychological
needs of patients and parents.
Their multidisciplinary approach aims to maximise quality of
life outcomes associated with cancer treatments and long-term
survivorship.
The Kookaburra team includes: paediatric medical oncologists,
specialty nursing staff, mental health clinicians, social workers,
oncology pharmacists, physiotherapists, occupational therapists and
other Allied Health professionals including art, music and play
therapists.
The CCC and Kookaburra - Cancer Care ward have essential
external links with Peter
MacCallum Cancer Centre (Peter Mac), Monash Medical
Centre and the Royal
Melbourne Hospital.
