The Equipment Distribution Centre
(EDC), located at The Royal Children's Hospital, provides medical
equipment hire and sales for children in Melbourne, clients of the
hospital and also to the wider community. The EDC was
established within The Royal Children's Hospital in 1990 to meet
the equipment needs of children both in the short and long
term. The EDC provides a wide range of paediatric special
needs and medical equipment hire, such as wheelchairs, crutches,
breast pumps, car seats and port-a-cots. The EDC also sells a
range of dermatology, continence, and medical equipment and staff
will be happy to discuss our range of products with you over the
phone or in person. Please feel free to view our catalogue for the range of products
available.
COVID-19 update: Temporary rules of engagement with the EDC.
In order to protect our patients, their carers and the EDC staff, equipment hire is currently restricted to RCH patients. Medical supplies are shipped to your home (no pickup at EDC premises) and available to patients as well as the general public (delivery costs apply).
To hire medical
equipment please contact the EDC directly. All equipment issued on a hire basis will
require a deposit (refundable on return of equipment) and a
hire fee, based on the time the item is required. Please consult our Hire Catalogue to see our current deposit and hire fees. We require
payment at the time of equipment collection, and clients will need
to complete a hire agreement prior to issue. In all
instances a therapist's recommendation is required to ensure
safe and correct fitting. Please contact us for
clarification.
