PIPER Learning Packages

  • PIPER neonatal education learning resource package and competency based assessment for Nasal CPAP in Level 2 Special Care Nurseries in Victoria. (Under review:  due 2022)


    This learning package has been designed to assist registered nurses and midwives working in non-tertiary level 2 special care nurseries in Victoria who may be required, under the direction of a paediatrician, to provide care for a baby requiring nasal continuous positive airway pressure (NCPAP). Care may be whilst awaiting transfer to a higher level of care or continuing care in a non-tertiary level 2 special care nursery.

    Neonatal Ventilation (Under review: due 2022)

    Learning packages

    This learning package has been specifically designed for registered nurses and midwives working within a Level 2 hospital who may be required to provide care for a ventilated neonate whilst awaiting transfer to a higher level of care. The goal of the Neonatal Ventilation learning Nasal CPAP Education Learning Package for Level 2 SCN and resource package is to provide information and guidelines, so that under the direction of a Paediatrician, the Registered Nurse can demonstrate knowledge, understanding and mastery in ventilation management and associated neonatal care.

    The package includes topic overviews, readings, clinical skill sheets for procedures, case studies, ventilator familiarization activities and pre and post tests.
