Health Services Research Unit

Areas of research

  • Work within the HSRU is continuously evolving, and spans three main areas:

    Low value care

Low value care provides little or no benefit, may cause patient harm, or provides marginal benefits at a disproportionately high cost.

    Improving access to care

Directing children away from the emergency department or outpatient specialty clinics towards community-based care could improve access to specialist care for children with more complex conditions.

    Mental health services

At any point in time, one in seven Australian children will experience a mental health problem, yet many of these children are not having their mental healthcare need met.
