Complex T21

  • The complex T21 clinic at The Royal Children's Hospital (RCH) provides initial assessment and management of children with T21.  We aim to support, engage and upskill community clinicians in caring for children with T21 and therefore are not designed to replace your community paediatrician.

    Location and time

    • Specialty Clinic A2 (ground floor) first Friday of every month.

    Inclusion criteria

    • Children with T21 below 12 months of age.
    • Children with T21 and complex needs.
    • Other patients may be accepted on a case by case basis.

    Referral and appointments

    • Please send a GP referral via fax to 03 9345 5034.
    • Please clearly state the referral is for the Complex T21 Clinic.
    • RCH Referral form is available online:
    • Once the referral is received and processed an appointment is made and a letter with details of the appointment is sent to the family.
    • For enquiries about appointments, please call telephone: (03) 9345 6180.
    • Priority is given to:
      1. Newly diagnosed families who have not had medical assessment.
      2. Children who need urgent intervention/investigations.

    What to bring to appointments

    • Families will be called prior to their initial appointment to help you prepare for the appointment.
    • Discharge summaries if applicable (admissions outside of the RCH).
    • Any previous blood results, surgeries, procedures, vaccination certificates etc.
