Susan Liew - Biography

  • Associate Professor Sue Liew has worked as a Visiting Medical Officer (Spine consultant) at Royal Children’s Hospital since 1997 and is also the Director of Orthopaedic Surgery at the Alfred Hospital.  She went to university at Monash, did her orthopaedic training in Victoria, and did clinical fellowships in Buffalo (USA), Paris (France) and Langensteinbach (Germany).  Her clinical subspecialty is in spine surgery with special interests in spine trauma and spine deformity.

    Sue has been a Chair of the Victorian/Tasmanian Orthopaedic Training program and an FRACS examiner in Orthopaedic surgery.  She has also been a member of a number of Department of Health surgical advisory committees and is currently on the Clinical Measurement & Reporting Committee (The Victorian Agency for Health Information).
