Skill Stations

  • Social distancing in the current climate

As we continue to evaluate face to face education, skill stations will be capped at 6 participants per workshop.

In 2015-2018 The MEO surveyed the JRMO on their top 10 fears when commencing in paediatrics. One of the major fears was procedural skills within a complex paediatric environment.

In collaboration with medical education, the simulation team and medical experts within RCH, a skills station program was designed to allay these fears and build on the JRMO’s own knowledge, allowing them to access information and practice where they feel gaps exist.

    1. An eLearn to provide underpinning knowledge.
    2. A facilitator-led simulated workshop to practice skills in as safe environment and learn “tips and tricks” of the procedure.
    3. Supervised practice on the ward.

These are the skills stations that have been devised; and run on a monthly basis.
