Key Word Sign

  • Key Word Sign supports a person’s communication through the use of natural gesture and manual signs. You can use key word signs with adults and children with communication difficulties to encourage and support their language development.

    Key word signing uses a core vocabulary of everyday words. Each word is matched to a hand sign. The main features of Key Word Sign include;

    • Use of speech and sign simultaneously
    • Sign the key words, and verbalise the complete phrase/sentence
    • Use of visual supports including facial expression, body language and directionality

    Key Word Sign workshops are offered to parents and early childhood educators in our centre. Find out more about Key Word Sign Victoria  here.

    • RCH ECIS will accept NDIS and private paying families/organisations. Please note we have no capacity for families to claim through Medicare or their private health insurance.
