Diversity inclusion and belonging

About Diversity Inclusion and Belonging

  • We acknowledge the Traditional Custodians of the land that The Royal Children's Hospital resides on: the Wurundjeri (Woi Wurrung) tribe of the Kulin Nation, and their neighbours the Boon Wurrung tribe. We recognise their continuing connection to the land and waters, and thank them for protecting this land, its coastline and its ecosystems since time immemorial. We pay our respects to their elders, past, present and emerging; and to Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander colleagues, patients and families who work with us, or access the hospital for health services.

The Royal Children’s Hospital (RCH) acknowledges the importance of a diverse and inclusive workplace to ensure all staff feel safe and engaged at work. This is fully supported by the Executive Team, and enabled by our Diversity, Inclusion and Belonging Reference Group. We believe that a culturally safe workforce supports the wellbeing of all employees, and in turn our patients and families. Staff are encouraged to get involved in various diversity, equity and inclusion initiatives and activities throughout the year. See below for more information about the way the RCH recognises, celebrates and values diversity across our organisation.
