COCOON PEEPS

  • COCOON PEEPS (PEER-to-peer Parent Supports) is the Butterfly parent support program, which has been developed to facilitate both current and former parents to support each other in ways that staff cannot, as most of us have not experienced what you are going through.

The aim is for us to provide opportunities for families to meet each other and share their experiences. You don’t have to join in if you don’t want to.

    Support

    • The Butterfly ‘Walk & Connect” Group & Afternoon Tea (COMING BACK SOON!) . Our Social Workers or the CCC will take parents on a walk around Royal Park to get some fresh air and have a chat. Afternoon Tea will be provided when you return. You do not have to go for a walk to join the Afternoon Tea though, you can just come to the Parent Lounge at 3.30pm.
    • Veteran/Graduating Parents (COMING SOON!) Some parents whose babies have been cared for in the past in Butterfly Ward have generously offered their time to support parents going through the same thing now. Once COVID19 restrictions have been lifted, we will be formally recruiting these parents.
They will be able to help by listening, sharing their stories and in some cases, providing really practical tips on how to manage certain things, such as tracheostomies, both in hospital and at home. If you would like to apply to be a COCOON VP, please contact the CCC at butterfly.cocoon@rch.org.au.
