Semen analysis

  • Semen analysis is a vital component of infertility investigations, semen donor screening, pre-vasectomy and pre-chemotherapy semen cryopreservation, and post-vasectomy testing.

For infertility investigations, the results of the semen analysis help clinicians to determine whether the infertility is predominantly due to a male factor, or more likely to be of female origin.

In ongoing treatment, semen analysis may also play an important part in assessing samples prior to sperm banking, IVF, or as a component of regular testing during treatment for male hormonal problems or sperm auto-immunity.

Semen analysis can only be performed if you have a referral from your doctor.
