  • Changes to the Andrology Service – Information for patients

In an effort to assist with physical distancing measures implemented by the Australian Government Department of Health for COVID-19, and in alignment with the Fertility Society of Australia’s New Advice released on 25 March 2020, patients will not be permitted to attend the RWH Andrology Laboratory (Carlton) to provide a specimen. Patient wishing to have a semen analysis are asked to follow the home/hospital collection procedure found on the website.

The Andrology Laboratory acknowledges that this an extremely difficult time for patients undergoing surgery or treatment where fertility may be affected, and we are committed to maintaining and providing fertility preservation services for as long as it is practically possible for us to do so. In order to avail of such services, please follow the home/hospital collection procedure. For patients travelling further distances who require fertility preservation services, i.e. more than one hour, please contact the laboratory on 03 8345 3992.

The laboratory will contact patients who already have appointments booked with new home/hospital collection guidance.

The laboratory apologises for any inconvenience this may cause you, and appreciates your support and understanding during these unprecedented and challenging times.
