Anaesthesia and Pain Management

Pain Pain Go Away Helping Children With Pain

  • Stephanie Dowden, a Clinical Nurse Consultant with the Children's Pain Management Service at Royal Children's Hospital, together with three Pain Specialists from Canada have written a booklet for parents and health professionals about children's pain. This is the second edition of the booklet, which was first published in 1994.

The booklet was launched by the Children's Pain Management Service at the Royal Children's Hospital in October 2003 and reprinted in 2007

The booklet gives information about pain in children, how to recognise pain and what to do. It contains suggestions about things that help children with pain as well as some other things that people should NOT do.

All RCH families can obtain a free copy from the Family Resource Centre or contact the Children's Pain Management Service

A poster based on the booklet has also been produced. It is laminated and is available in two sizes (A3 or A2).

The booklets and posters can be purchased from the Royal Children's Hospital on line shop.
