All tubes MUST be filled to the line indicated on the tube.


LAB NOTES:

Special Tube preparation by Biochemistry: Add 50uL of aprotinin per mL of whole blood (as per Royal Prince Alfred Hospital); i.e. if 2.7mL EDTA - add 135uL; if 9mL EDTA add 450uL

Specimen Processing: Check that the sample is filled to the indicated line (troubleshoot if required); centrifuge cold, separate plasma, freeze plasma at -70°C, send frozen on dry ice.

Send to testing laboratory on dry ice. Do not pack dry ice in a sealed container.  Use appropriate PPE.
