Serum - Gel

Babies: 2 x 0.5ml bullet tubes

Unless TSH <0.5 or >4.5, or the request indicates a thyroid disease, only TSH will be performed. 

LAB NOTES:

If infant specimen (<28 days old)- Full TFT to be performed

If infant specimen and only small volume received, TSH and FT4 have priority testing

Lithium Heparin specimen cannot be used for FT4 testing.

If Chemical Pathologist / or Clinician requests for TFT’s to be sent to RMH for testing please register sample with procedure code SATFT.
