Semen - epididymal or testicular aspirates

This test MUST be pre-booked with the laboratory.

Samples transported at room temperature.

MEDICAL NOTES:

Semen Analysis should always be ordered in conjunction with cryopreservation.

It is recommended that all patients are tested for evidence of clinically relevant infections within 30 days of cryopreservation. Recommended infectious screening tests including anti-HIV 1/2, HBsAg, anti-HBc and anti-HCV.

Lab Notes:

• If the sample arrives at a Laboratory other than Andrology, immediately contact the Andrology Laboratory at 8545 3992. Samples must arrive at the Andrology Lab by 3:00pm (Mon-Fri).
• Store samples at room temperature. DO NOT FREEZE.

Specimen Reception Staff Instructions:

• Sample is deemed as urgent and should arrive at the Andrology Lab within 1 hour. Transport at room temperature.
• For External samples: Register samples under the TAN test code and forward the sample to the Andrology Lab with next courier run.
• For Inpatient samples: Register samples using the EPIC/EMR order number and add the TAN test code for tracking purposes, then forward to Andrology Lab.
