Whole blood – Citrate.  DO NOT send via pneumatic tube. Collect a 'discard' specimen as the first tube.

Must be booked in advance (at least 24 hrs notice) via Haematology Lab Registrar. 

Contact Haematology Lab Registrar on #52607 to arrange collection time. Must collect before 1000 hrs to reach Alfred Pathology before midday.

Samples must be kept at Room Temperature and deliver to the laboratory, immediately - DO NOT send via pneumatic tube.

Anti-platelet and Anti-inflammatory drugs should be ceased at least 14 days before testing.

Patient should fast or have a light, non-fatty breakfast on the day of testing.

PATHOLOGY COLLECTION NOTES: 

Check booking details; when patient arrives notify Central Specimen Reception (RCH - ext 55904; RWH - ext 52550)

LAB NOTES:

Process immediately. DO NOT SPIN. Keep samples at room temperature, NO ice. Label esky with URGENT - PLATELET AGGREGATION STUDIES. Samples must reach the external laboratory within 2 hrs of collection.

Book an external courier and send directly to Alfred Health from RCH or RWH Specimen Reception.
