Note: This test should ONLY be used for ADA2 deficiency (DADA2). To test for ADA-SCID or Diamond Blackfan anaemia, order "ADA/PNP (Adenosine Deaminase & Purine Nucleoside Phosphorylase)".

This test must be discussed with the Immunopathologist prior to being ordered. It is only available by appointment. Please phone Immunology lab ext 55725.

Specimen should be collected prior to any transfusion, or at least 24 hrs after transfusion of plasma containing products.

To reduce the likelihood of the sample being haemolysed, a venous collection is preferred.

Lab Notes           

Separate the plasma as soon as possible on receipt. Plasma must not be haemolysed. The separated sample is stable for 1 week when refrigerated at 4oC. Send both the separated plasma and the primary tube containing the red cells with the routine interstate sending on Wednesday. Transport at 4oC. DO NOT freeze.

Please advise the Metabolic Laboratory at Pathology Queensland prior to shipment of specimen.
