Arterial or Venous blood using pre-packaged heparinised syringe. If Capillary blood - must fill heparinised capillary tube. If Blood Gas also required - must collect 2 capillary tubes

Venous/Arterial - Ensure specimen is mixed by rolling syringe between hands.

Capillary - Fill tubes without introducing air bubbles. DO NOT place metal flea in capillary tube. Deliver labelled specimen immediately to laboratory on ice pillow

RCH - Blood Gas analysers located on 4th floor (Rosella and Laboratory Services); 5th floor (Butterfly) and Lower ground floor (Emergency).

RWH - Blood Gas analysers located on 4th floor (NISC); 5th floor (Core Laboratory)
