Blood - Lithium heparin preferred (or EDTA tube or plain tube (no gel- as the gel absorbs the drug)). Send to Pathology Specimen Reception ASAP. See comments below.

Record last drug dosage and time of last dose on the request form.

LAB NOTES:

Centrifuge and separate plasma aliquot ASAP (must be separated within 12 hours of collection).

Send to referral laboratory at 4C.

Separated sample is stable for up to 2 weeks at 4C.
