Serum-Gel

Testosterone and Dihydrotestosterone (DHT) are assayed at 0hr and 72hrs post stimulation.

• Please create a referral to outpatient Nurse Led Clinic (NLC) for bookings on Mondays, Tuesdays and Fridays. 
• Please provide a script to Pharmacy (H-CAM) prior to their appointment date for Nursing staff to collect.
• Please also place an order for dose administration in the patient’s MAR.
• This test is unavailable on Wednesday and Thursday.

Collection Notes:

• Patient blood collections will occur at A6 Pathology Collection for 0hrs and 72hr collections post stimulation.
  

Laboratory Notes:

• Spin, aliquot serum and freeze at -80°C.  Clearly label both sample & cover letter as 0hr or 72hrs post stimulation.

Send to testing laboratory on dry ice. Do not pack dry ice in a sealed container.  Use appropriate PPE.

Weekly

• Both testosterone and dihydrotestosterone are performed by immunoassay on the Beckman Coulter
