Collect samples only on Mondays - Wednesdays (exc. Public Holidays) Do not collect on Thursday or Friday.

Medical Staff:
The attached Australian Red Cross Lifeblood Cell Reference Laboratory Request form must be completed and accompany the specimen in addition to the Pathology Request Form.

Gestation must be 12 weeks or greater. Specific gestation and EDD on request form.


Available for

  • Women with allo anti-D or K
  • RhD negative women with FDIU and large fetal maternal haemorrhage
  • RhD negative women with allergy to RhD Ig
  • Women with allo anti-C, c, E, Fya or Fyb titre of 32 or greater

SPECIMEN RECEPTION
Forward sample and request form to RCH Blood Bank for review and approval prior to dispatch. 
Samples MUST arrive at referral laboratory within 72 hrs of collection. Samples are only able to be processed Monday - Thursday.

Samples should be stored at 2-8°C and samples must be transported with a cold ice-brick, same day.

Samples can be sent to QLD via Lifeblood Melbourne Processing Centre if they are clearly labelled:
