Urine

Please Note IMPORTANT CHANGES for the screening of drugs in urine:

A QUALITATIVE screening test (i.e. simply reported as Positive or Negative) is performed for the following drugs/drug classes:

1. Amphetamine type substances

2. Barbiturates

3. Benzodiazepines

4. Cocaine Metabolites

5. Methadone

6. Opiates

7.Cannabinoids

If a QUANTITATIVE drug screen or confirmation of any detected (positive) result is required, the requesting doctor MUST contact RCH Biochemistry , Laboratory Services on 9345 6278 and forward a new request form stating either 'GCMS drug screen' and/or 'GCMS drug confirmation' clearly specifying the drug class.

LAB NOTES:

If requesting doctor requires QUANTITATIVE / Confirmation of any of the above drugs/drug classes, refer to Drug Screen Quantitation / Confirmation, Urine.

RWH Lab Notes:
After hours send to RCH with regular external courier run at 18:00hrs. After 20:00hrs: Send all "urgent" requests directly to RCH by external courier. Notify 9345 6278 on dispatch.
