Random urine samples are unsuitable for testing

SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS:

Caution, acid is corrosive. Droplets of concentrated HCl may be present in the container.

Ensure patient / carer understands the risk associated with the acid - use interpreter service if required.

Patient should urinate directly into the acid washed container

LAB NOTES

• Weigh the container with its contents before aliquoting the sample.
• Clearly record the start and end dates and times of collection.
• Record the total urine volume.

Store the primary urine bottle in the cold room.

Do not discard the primary container until the results have been validated.
