Random urine samples are unsuitable for testing

SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS:

Caution, acid is corrosive. Droplets of concentrated HCl may be present in the container.

Ensure patient / carer understands the risk associated with the acid - use interpreter service if required.

Patient should urinate directly into the acid washed container.

LAB NOTES Weigh the container/contents and then aliquot the sample. Send the primary urine bottle to Complex Biochemistry. NOTE: The primary container must NOT be discarded until the result is checked as validated.
