*Trough/Pre Level only - Collect immediately before next dose is due (approx 24 hrs after previous dose). For the majority of patients a peak level is not required (the dose is very high and the level will be several times greater than the MIC). Peak or other (i.e. random) levels may be required for investigation purposes or for patients with (potential) large changes in Volume of Distribution (obtain advice from Pharmacy, Pharmacology or at RCH - Prof. Shann). Random Level - Collect approx 2, 12 and 24 hours after dose. (Further samples as required). Peak/Post Level - Collect 1 hr after bolus dose or end of infusion. Trough/Pre Level - Collect immediately before next dose.

LAB NOTES:
If both trough/pre and peak/post specimens are received together PLEASE allocate a SEPARATE laboratory number for each specimen.
