Prepare for telehealth consultation

  • Test call 

    • Please always do a test call as soon as your appointment is booked and then again on the day of your telehealth consultation.  You can do this any time.
    • If there is a technical issue this may impact on our ability to provide your video consultation.
    • The RCH is not able to offer technical support for your computer settings or set-up.
    • The Test call runs you through the same checks as a real video call, without actually connecting you to anyone.

  • What do I need to take part in an RCH telehealth video call?

    You will need one of these:

    • A computer (Windows or Mac) with a webcam (built in or plug-in), and a microphone (usually built in to most laptop computers and external webcams)
    • An android smartphone or tablet
    • Outside callers "How to" Computer or Android 

    And both of these:

    • The latest version of the Google Chrome web browser installed (you may need administrator rights to do this)
    • A reasonable and reliable internet connection

    OR an iPad or iPhone

    • Outside callers minimal requirements and 'how to' for iPad or iPhone
    • iOS9.3.1 or above
    • iPad / iPhone App installed - Get the App
    • Always start your video call from the website (not from the App)

    Going somewhere else for the consultation?

    If you're having the consultation with your local doctor, or at your child's school or elsewhere, they need to complete this test.

    This is especially important for schools, who often have strict firewalls.  Please contact them, provide this website address and ask them to complete a test call as soon as your appointment is booked.
