The Royal Children's Hospital Community Information
team (formerly Safety Centre) provides information on safety promotion and
injury prevention. Utilising clinical knowledge from hospital staff, experience
and up-to-date data, the Community Information team educates the community on
ways to prevent unintentional injury, covering topics such as: car and road
safety, poisoning prevention, burns and scalds prevention, falls prevention,
water safety, outdoor safety, choking prevention and home safety.
The service provides information, advice, and collaborative health promotion initiatives. A directory
of organisations that provide information on injury prevention and safety
promotion is also available on the website. We work closely with external
community organisations on projects and media campaigns to continue to improve
the health and wellbeing of children and adolescents.
In addition to online resources, the Community Information team offers
a telephone advice line during
business hours on (03) 9345 5085 or can be contacted via email at Safety.Centre@rch.org.au.
