What does the hearing screen look like?

1. The hearing screen is done whilst you and your baby are still in hospital and atyour bedside.

2. The hearing screener will explain the screen and answer any questions that you might have.

 3. If you want your baby to have a hearing screen, you will be asked to sign a consent form.

4. The screener places sensors on your baby and ear cups that play soft clicking sounds.

5. The screen is quick and painless and most babies stay asleep in their cots while the screen is being carried out.

6. We can screen whilst you are cuddling your baby or even while your baby is breastfeeding.

7.  Your screener will give you the results of the screen straight away.

8.  Some babies who do not pass the screen will need to have a diagnostic hearing test.
