1. The hearing screen is done whilst you and your baby are still in hospital and atyour bedside. |
2. The hearing screener will explain the screen and answer any questions that you might have. |
3. If you want your baby to have a hearing screen, you will be asked to sign a consent form. |
4. The screener places sensors on your baby and ear cups that play soft clicking sounds. |
5. The screen is quick and painless and most babies stay asleep in their cots while the screen is being carried out. |
6. We can screen whilst you are cuddling your baby or even while your baby is breastfeeding. |
7. Your screener will give you the results of the screen straight away. |
8. Some babies who do not pass the screen will need to have a diagnostic hearing test. |
