Safety Centre Workshops
The Safety Centre is committed to providing current information and knowledge to assist parents and caregivers in providing safe environments for children through Safety promotion/Injury prevention practices. Throughout the year the Safety Centre conducts workshops including Parent, Childcare, and Health Practitioner Workshops. Workshops may also be tailored for groups such as family day care providers and carers, and community outreach workers.
Parent Discussion Groups
Every year, many young children suffer serious injury in and around the home. The good news is that many injuries can be prevented. One of the most effective ways of protecting children from injury is supervision and creating a safe home environment.
Join us for our parent discussion groups to discuss simple ways in which you can reduce the risk of childhood injuries. These can include the removal of potentially dangerous items, adding safety products to your home, moving objects such as furniture, changing the layout of a room, and changing the way you go about your daily routine.
Course Duration:
Approximately 1 hour and 30minutes including question and answer time.
Course Fee:
$5.00 per person donation
(Concession card holders are free)
Bookings:
In order to secure your place please contact the Safety Centre. Demand is expected to be high so it is best to call early!
Bookings can be made as an individual or as a group (e.g. a parent's group). It is ESSENTIAL that you contact the Safety Centre and request a booking at least 3 working days PRIOR to the event.
NOTE:Small babies in arms welcome
Please note that the Safety Centre reserves the right to cancel a workshop 3 working days prior to the event if the number of attendees is below the minimum (5). In this instance the Safety Centre will contact registered attendees to inform them of the change.

Childcare Workshops
Childcare workshops are tailored around and focussed on the childcare setting. The Childcare workshops can be scheduled at a time that best suits you. The sessions are held at The Royal Children's Hospital.
Course Fee:
$100 per group (regardless of numbers)

Health Practitioner Workshops
The March Workshop "Transportation of Children and Youth with Additional Needs" is now available to purchase on DVD. The cost for the 3 DVD set is $9.00 + P&H.
