Rheumatology Outpatient Clinics at the RCH

The Rheumatology team is available for patient consults at specialist clinics and for inpatients admitted to the Royal Children's Hospital.

Outpatient Clinics

Making an appointment: If you want to make a new public patient appointment with us, we need to have a referral from your GP or medical specialist first. You can send, fax or scan and email us the referral (see the "contact us" page for address, email and fax number). We will then triage your referral and send you a letter with your appointment date and time.

New patient appointments are allocated depending on urgency and the length of our waiting lists, which generally vary between 2 and 6 weeks.

If you are a current patient and want to book a review visit, or reschedule an appointment, please call RCH outpatients on (03) 9345 6180. You will need to bring a new referral if you have not been to see us for a year.

If you want to make or reschedule a private appointment with Dr Roger Allen, please email him on rogerallen.private@gmail.com . Please do not call RCH with private appointment queries as we will not be able to help you.

Attending an appointment: General rheumatology public outpatient appointments are held on Monday afternoon, Thursday morning, Thursday afternoon and Friday morning. The transition clinic for older patients is generally held on Thursdays. These appointments are all at Reception Desk A2 in the Specialist Clinics area on the ground floor (see map).

There is also a lupus / vasculitis clinic which is held monthly on a Tuesday morning, at Reception Desk A5.
