Make a donation of goods

Another way you can help is to donate goods for the Auxiliaries to sell/raffle at the hospital stalls.

We often receive generous donations of new knitted clothes and toys, crocheted and quilted blankets, cushions, home made jams and chutneys, gift cards, paintings, books and many other items. So if you like to get creative, we would gratefully welcome your donations.

We also receive donations of second-hand goods such as toys, books, videos, and much more. These goods (as long as they are in good condition) are sold by Auxiliaries at the hospital stalls.

Come see us at our best!

Auxiliaries are constantly a source of great fundraising techniques and activities. Throughout the year there are some major events that contribute to Auxiliaries. You can find out more from the links below:

Good Friday appeal

The Good Friday Appeal is directed and administered by the Herald and Weekly Times. The Appeal Office is located at -

IBM Centre
Level 2
60 City Road
SOUTHBANK Vic 3006
Phone: (03) 9292 1166
Fax: (03) 9292 2650

A few weeks before this major fundraising event the Auxiliaries Office and members are kept very busy receiving donations of food from a variety of Victorian suppliers. The food is prepared by Auxiliaries and provided to the Good Friday Appeal volunteers. These generous donations of food are significant contributions to the success of this important event, and the hospital is very grateful.

On Good Friday the Auxiliaries Office presents the Appeal with a cheque made up of the funds that they have worked hard to raise throughout the year. This year the Auxiliaries contributed a grand total of $1,525,244.45.

Paddy's market

Paddys Market has been held in the hospital on St Patricks Day every year since its inception in 1995. On the day many Auxiliary groups participate in this market stall to sell homemade and donated goods, and provide food tastings. This is a terrific event and a great reason for Auxiliaries to get together for a morning to raise funds. Paddys Market 2004 raised over $7,500. It will be held on Tuesday 19th March 2008.

Andys market

The success of Paddys Market inspired the start of a new one Andys Market, named after Scottish Saint Andrew. Andys Market was launched on the 18 November, 2002. On the day the flavour of Scotland is brought to the market stall. Theres a display of the St Andrews and Royal Scottish flags, the sound of the bagpipes, and Highland dancing. And for those Auxiliaries who are of Scottish descent (or not), theres an opportunity to don tartan skirts and quilts.

This year Andys Market will be held on Thursday 27th November 2008.

Cuppa for Kids involves hosting a morning or afternoon tea at work, home, school or anywhere! To assist hosts, the Auxiliaries Office sends kits containing receipts, invitations, information about the event and the hospital, as well as an invitation to the launch party. Funds are raised by asking attendees to make a $2.00 donation.

Children must have a least one person who believes in them. It could be a counsellor, a teacher, a preacher, a friend. It could be you. You never know when a little love, a little support will plant a small seed of hope
