Annual Report

The Melbourne Sinfonia Auxiliary is The Royal Children’s Hospital honorary resident symphony orchestra, which was established independently by musicians interested in raising funds for the Royal Children’s Hospital Music Therapy program.    Our declared purpose is to enjoy working together to play orchestral music to a high standard and to perform concerts the profits from which will benefit the hospital.MelbourneSinfonia.jpg

The orchestra is comprised of fifty or so musicians from a variety of professional and musical backgrounds.   The players commit much time to the auxiliary because of course, significant rehearsal time is needed in addition to that required for the performances.   Additionally, we are supported by a number of non-musician volunteers.   We usually perform four major concerts each year at Melba Hall in the University of Melbourne, Faculty of Music.

We have good attendances at our concerts, but there are more seats which can be filled.   We are constantly looking for new opportunities to increase our ticket sales, which are currently our only source of revenue.MelbourneSinfonia2.jpg

Thank you to our Musical Director and Conductor, our committee and volunteers for their commitment and hard work.   Lastly but not least, a big thank you to our loyal followers who our attend our concerts.

We thank all our friends and supporters and hope you continue to enjoy our concerts.
