The Ultimate Challenge Story

We support the Department of Developmental Medicine.  This Department promotes the highest standards of care for children with developmental disabilities and their families in the hospital and in the community. Over the past two years we have paid for the salary for a Research Assistant at a cost of $47,782. Funded unit brochures to be translated into other languages $625, and various items to assist with a Study that a Doctoral student is undertaking $4,908.95.

Each year we have our annual raffle – footballs signed by AFL Clubs plus a draw for a family package consisting of family vouchers to various venues around Melbourne. We are very grateful to the clubs for their continuing support.  This year we had family pass donations from MCG, Sovereign Hill, Luna Park and the Royal Agricultural Society.  We also have stalls in the Andy’s and Paddy’s markets held at the hospital. Donations of goods to sell at these stalls are always very welcome.

Various shops sell tote bags for us, Colonial Fruits at Doncaster, Malvern & Chadstone, Signalelli’s, Medicare City East Branch, Peninsular Lifestyle Complex. We are very grateful for their support.   We would like to contact any other shops who would be able to sell bags for us.

We had a very successful stall at the Ashburton Festival selling hospital merchandise and books and toys donated by Dirt Cheap Books. We have a number of companies who set up stalls at the hospital - we receive a percentage of their sales. Thanks to Better Learning Australia and Kingwest for their generous support.  We would be interested to hear from any other companies who would assist us. We also sell Entertainment books each year at the Hospital and to our regular supporters.

We have our meetings in Glen Iris and would welcome new members.  Contact Evon at 0414 717 293.

Annual Report

Another year and lots of dollars raised with the continuing help from Angela, Garry and staff of Colonial Fruit shops Chadstone, Malvern and the newly opened  shop at Doncaster Shoppingtown;  Dean and Colin from Signorelli’s Fresh Fruiters Nth Balwyn; AFL Clubs who year after year have  kindly signed footballs for our great raffle; Peter Walsh of Skyline Contractors for his very generous donation; the sale of Entertainment   Books and stalls within the hospital and Shopping centres around Melbourne have enabled us to pay for a Research Assistant to work with Ass. Prof. Dinah Reddihough and her team in Developmental Medicine. When you see the wonderful work done in this department  you realize that they need all the support  and money for their search  to find a cure and care for our special children with disabilities . As a small auxiliary I am so proud of our volunteers who work so hard to achieve our goal. A special thank you to Barbara and Keith Oliver who so kindly allow us to hold our meetings in their home – thank you.   To our friends in all the other Auxiliaries, congratulations  for all your hard work, the monies raised has been great.

We would also like to welcome our new members Glenda, Lindsay and Nancy to our Auxiliary and look forward to a long and rewarding time with Ultimate Challenge.

To our friends in all the other Auxiliaries congratulations on a job well done, the money raised this past year has been fantastic..
