This group supports the hospital by working two days a month at the Gift Shop. They have been involved in fundraising events such as “Cuppa for Kids”, Paddy’s Market and the Auxiliaries Christmas Party. There’s also been a treasure evening, garden party, Crown Casino trip, numerous raffles, and selling jams, sauces, knitted garments and toys at the hospital stalls. They make calico dolls for use in Play Therapy. Funds raised go towards supporting 4 Main Surgical Unit.
I have pleasure in presenting our Annual Report, my thirteenth as Secretary. We have had a great year of fund-raising and social activities thanks to our hand working, enthusiastic members, with a big increase in money raised by our group of 12 ladies.
In addition to our regular days two days a month in the Gift Shop we now work a Sunday every second month plus additional days when required. We participated in Andy’s and Paddy’s Market, Pin & Win badge selling at Caulfield Racecourse, Box Hill card shop, Myer wrapping day, plus numerous internal and external stalls. We also attended the Auxiliaries 85th AGM and Seminar, Living Treasures functions, meetings and Auxiliaries Christmas Party.
Fundraisers have included an Art Show, Essential Editions party, Johnston Collection tour, tote bag and merchandise sales, money tins, Christmas card sales, plus many raffles. We also raised money at our meetings with the sale of craft, jam, home-grown produce and knitted garments.
I would like to acknowledge the support of partners, family and friends in our fundraising efforts, particularly Keith Read and Alan Peter-Budge whose help on our ‘market days’ is invaluable.
We received a fantastic $2300 cheque from member Val Caddy and husband Ron of Lamcal Builders Supplies which were proceeds of a Golf Day. Our Treasurer Raelene’s sister, Lorraine Murphy from Epping PubTab made large monetary contributions to our funds by sale of footballs, raffles, money tins and also provided raffle items. Raelene’s other sister Jenny Clarke has enlisted the help of Macedon Grammar School who assisted our fundraising by tote bag sales and proceeds of an ‘out of uniform’ day. We are also grateful for the cash donations, beautiful craft items and delicious produce supplied for our market stalls by our auxiliary friends.
We continue to support Ward 4 Main and our fundraising efforts benefit the patients and parents of the ward. A weigh chair, expressing pump, 4 suction units, baby pram and high chair have been ordered for the ward at an approximate cost of $7,600.
Congratulations to Val Caddy who received a much-deserved Menzies Community Australia Day Award for her 22 years service to the hospital. Congratulations also to
Finally, I would like to thank our wonderful members who so willingly volunteer their time and talents in raising funds for the Royal Children’s Hospital.
