The Pelican Story

This group primarily supports the McKinnon School of Nursing, where they currently fund two annual post-graduate scholarships and two book prizes to be awarded at the graduation ceremony. They also fund the purchase of equipment, and give an annual donation to the Adolescent Unit for recreational activities. They raise funds through raffles, stalls, name badges made weekly and involvement in Paddy’s Market. Two members work regularly in the Gift Shop. Their country members and friends support them through donations of money, and goods to sell at their stalls.

Annual Report

We enjoy our monthly meetings, and are still financing two annual scholarships at $2,000.00 each for two nurses employed at the hospital. There is now a choice of five post graduate courses, and we also give a $100.00 book prize to the best student in each course. We continue with our annual donation of $1,500.00 to the adolescent unit for art and craft pursuits – this donation is very much appreciated.

Our finances are derived from the making of name badges in the hospital foyer, the sale of auxiliary merchandise, an annual cake sale, and Cuppa For Kids. One of our members also works in the Auxiliaries Gift Shop. We thank our country members for their continued support, and the McKinnon Learning and Development Centre for the provision or our meeting room and facilities. We look forward to the next twelve months of friendship and fundraising.
