Let the Children Play

This group is primarily a group of students, young professionals and family members who decided to raise funds to support the Play Therapy department. This area was chosen because each member personally knows individuals who were cared for within the various wards of the hospital, and had been supported by Play Therapy. Recent fundraising activities have included Trash n Treasure stalls and markets, book and gift stalls, raffles, chocolate drives and working in the Gift Shop.

Annual Report

Wow where does the time go?

It only seems a few months ago that we were submitting the 2006/7 report!!

Well, over the past year LTCP has been involved in a variety of activities – some annual events, others “once offs”, and some, sadly we say goodbye too!

With the number of our market days, fetes/festivals and shopping center days ever increasing, we are still very actively selling the handy TOTE bag and a variety of the Auxiliary merchandise...not only are these events a fantastic opportunity to raise funds, they are also a perfect time to help raise awareness for the Play Therapy Department and for NETWORKING within our community.

Over the past year, we have also hosted a number of book stalls, worked in the Auxiliary Gift shop and seen the welcome return of the LTCP Gourmet Cake stall to Paddy’s market (and considering our ‘treats’ were completely sold out before the end of the day – it obviously has been missed!)

We also trialled a mini launch of our new “Christmas Fare” and received a really positive response.  With all the Christmas treats being made exclusively at “Wickedly Delicious Patisserie Cafe” by our Gourmet chef, Helena, we are now all looking forward to a huge, YUMMY campaign for   Christmas 2008!

The annual Shopping Tour was once again a fantastic success….although we were down a few on our regular numbers...we still managed to visit 17 outlets, gossip about anything & everything, win lots of raffle prizes, drink lots of champagne and raise a terrific amount of money!   Well done girls, we can always count on you to spend lots of money in the name of a good cause!

Our Exclusive “Closed Door” Mini shopping tour was also a great fundraiser and social event!    Equipped with a mini bus and lots of RCH Tote bags, we made a day of ‘playing’ in 4 massive factory outlets, buying lots of bargains and, in spite of the SQUISHY trip home, we all had a fabulous day.

Our 3rd Annual Bubs, Tots & Kidlets Mini Expo, was bigger than we could ever have imagined, with more than 70 businesses/groups represented and a fantastic turnout on the day - in spite of the sweltering conditions.   Although we are still receiving great feedback and enquiries for future expos, a lack of affordable, suitable venues in this area means that, unfortunately, this is one event we must say goodbye too!

Nevertheless, we keep moving forward....and, as such, are just about to host a “Crop & Pamper Scrapbooking & craft weekend – a relaxing event where Scrapbookers, stampers and cardmakers can “crop” until all hours of the evening with others who understand their OBSESSION!   We are also in a ‘whirl’ organising a “Wickedly Delicious Winter Festival” – a small market day set in the beautiful surrounds of Monbulk.

And as always, we would like to thank to all of our members and supporters for “Helping to make hospital a positive experience for our ‘kids’”…we couldn’t do it without you!
