This is a small group of mothers and family members whose fundraising activities support research into Haemophilia.

Annual Report

I have been a member of the Haux auxiliary for almost six years now and in that time I have been able to raise some funds for the needs of the haemophilia community.  We have held numerous stalls that sell a wide range of different goods from food and crafts to those wonderful bags that we wouldn't be without now.
I have had some fantastic help from the wider community as well.  Our local craft shop had been selling the bags for us.  A friend at the local hospital has sold many to other members of staff there.  I get a real kick out of seeing someone walking around with one of our bags because I know that they have helped a sick child through their purchase.

Some of the items we have been able to buy through generous donations are veinapuncture kits, which help children, and parents learn to give treatment using a model to practice on rather than your child’s arm! This gives more confidence to go forward with treatments when ready for the real thing.

Recently we were able to buy a trolley for picking up the many treatment products that we need every month.  Having the trolley means that we can go to all the departments to pick up the various items and take them back to the car, which is wonderful when you may have children with you and not enough hands.  We were also able to receive a grant for a special sports book for boys with haemophilia.  This has been a tremendous aide to parents and teachers alike.

It brings me great satisfaction to be able to do my small part in giving back to the hospital and to help others.  There are only a few of us as there are so few boys with haemophilia but now my son Jake loves to help out and my husband also helps out once or twice a year as well.  We have Neville as well who is so kind and donates the proceeds of his stall to Haux.

So even though we may only be few there are people with big hearts that help and we in turn can do what we can to make the lives of people suffering with haemophilia a little better.

My hope is that in the not too distant future a cure is found for these children and that in some small way we will have helped.
