Annual Report

Another very active year for our Auxiliary, plus friends and supporters, has enabled us to raise close to $30,000.00 for the year. Our fundraising activities once again were mainly through our stalls at the Hospital – 20 in all, including Paddy’s and Andy’s Markets. These were supplemented by 3 day/night Home Markets, plus 12 days at “Centro – The Glen” Shopping Centre. The success of our stalls is made possible by the great range of top quality products provided by our dedicated team of workers and supporters. Our knitwear, sewing, dolls, jewellery, woodwork, patchwork, craft and printed items continue to attract a growing band of “regular” customers.

Our main “Special Effort” for the year was our Annual Dinner/ Auction at Frenchy’s Bistro, Glen Waverley. The 90 people who attended had a great night and enabled us to achieve our best result so far.

This year’s second annual “Cystic Fibrosis Basketball Challenge Cup” match between Knox Raiders and Club Kilsyth Cobras was on Easter Thursday, so our Easter Egg Raffle boosted the takings nicely. Once again, we’ve been able to provide much needed items to RCH Physiotherapy Department, whilst our main contribution has been to the RCH Department of Respiratory Medicine. $20,000 was provided for 12 months funding of a research project into “Clonal Pseudomonal Cross Infection” in CF, conducted through Murdoch Children’s Research Institute. A further $20,000 had just been committed to fund the second year of the project, commencing 1^st July 2008.

Sincere thanks to our great team of friends and supporters who help us in many ways. The efforts of our helpers on RCH stall days are greatly appreciated, so thanks to Pat Borcich, and in particular June Summers, for their ongoing regular assistance on these long and sometimes demanding days.
