The Footscray/Yarraville Auxiliary raises funds by running slide nights, cake stalls, Cuppa for Kids, and handcraft and plant stalls. The funds raised go towards the hospitals Wish List.

Annual Report

It is pleasing to present the 47th President’s Report of the Footscray/Yarraville Auxiliary of the Royal Children’s Hospital.

Our donation to the hospital in February 2007 was $6,400.  We have also received a credit of $1,802.67 for our work in the Auxiliary Gift Shop.  Our days assisting in the shop are productive and enjoyable.

Our fund raising for the past year began with a Luncheon at Soroptimist House.  Mr. Anthony Knight from Beleura was our guest speaker.  He spoke and showed slides of his time at Windsor Castle.  We raised $1,284 and had a very successful day.

We had two stalls at the hospital.  Our October Spring Stall netted $602 and the Easter Stall a pleasing $856.  We have also sold the hospital Christmas cards, tote bags and other goods with some success.

Members enjoyed visiting the hospital for the AGM/Seminar and were extremely interested in the subject of “Strokes in Infants”.   The Christmas party was good fun with Dorothy Baker, a Footscray girl from way back, and Paul Jennings entertaining the audience.  The Living Treasures’ Luncheon and morning tea were also enjoyed.

Our Christmas meeting was held at Margaret McPherson’s home and we had lunch in Yarraville for old time’s sake.

In March Margaret & John Plowright opened their lovely garden for a party.  The weather was extremely kind and guests enjoyed a glass of wine or two and a delightful lunch.  Kath Dacey, a teacher from the Sogetsic School of Ikebana, gave us an extremely fascinating demonstration on the art of Ikebana.  With a good attendance and a successful stall and raffle, $867 was raised.

We are very appreciative of a $100 donation from our member Wendy Brooks.  Wendy has moved a long distance away but is with us when possible.

Our last function for the year was another luncheon at Soroptimist House.  Our guest speaker, Mrs. Patricia Begg O.A.M., gave a very informative and captivating talk on machine-made lace.  The guests thoroughly enjoyed the day and with a successful stall and raffle $1,000 was raised on the day.  It was my pleasure at this function to present Dorothy Gow, our newest member, with a 5-year Service Badge.

My special thanks to you all for your wonderful support throughout the year, for your hospitality and for your friendship.FootscrayYarravilleJnrs.jpg
