Trail Blazers

Founded 2005

  • President: Ann McGeary
  • Secretary: Carol Muir
  • Treasurer: Gloria Strang

The Trailblazers Auxiliary supports the Developmental Medicine department. In May 2008 the Developmental Medicine Department purchased  the Griffiths Development Scales with money raised by Trailblazers. This equiptment cost $4,355.70.

2007 Report

Our very small Auxiliary continues to raise funds for Assistant Professor Dinah Reddihough and her dedicated team in the developmental medicine department. We contribute in the usual way of selling the “ever popular” tote bags and other merchandise at various venues outside the hospital, as well as selling the above on a regular basis at The Children’s. We had our gift stalls in the hospital for Easter, Mothers Day and Christmas. The two market days, selling mainly plants and books are an enjoyable day to be a part of. Like many charities, we are selling the Entertainment Books which add to our funds. Again, this year we received financial support from Rotary for which we are most grateful. We will continue our efforts in supporting Dinah and her great team, assisting children with disabilities.

2006 Report

June 06 - June 07

Our first full year has been a very busy time fundraising for the Department of Developmental Medicine, which provides for children with multiple disabilities and cerebral palsy.

We are very proud of our President; Anne McGeary who was made a member of the Living Treasures Honorary Auxiliary during the year.

As well as running successful stalls such as Christmas, Mothers Day and various hospital market day stalls, we enjoyed an equally successful fundraiser in auctioning the polo shirt of our Australian Captain at the Hocking Stuart Polo Match at Albert Park last November.   Again, the sale of Entertainment Books has proved most profitable.

We were also involved in the fundraising for the Solve Committee in the spectacular “Dress Revival” sale, and were very happy to part of such a successful event.

Our Auxiliary is most appreciative and grateful for the support from our local Rotary Club.

Consequently, we look forward to the coming year with enthusiasm for various fundraising events in the support of Associate Professor Dinah Reddihough and her dedicated team.
