This group was born the Nunawading Auxiliary. Members were drawn through experiences they had had with the hospital. Some had children who were seriously ill, and there were those who lost their children to life threatening illnesses. In 1995 they changed their name to CasKids. This group supports the Emergency Department of the hospital. Their fundraising activities include fashion parades, Dutch auctions, sausage sizzles, and much more.

This year has been another busy year for the Caskids auxiliary. I would like to thank all our members, their husbands and partners for their ongoing support at each and every fundraising event. Unfortunately some of our men have not enjoyed good health this past year and we are thankful they are now on their way to good health again.
We celebrated our 40th Anniversary this year over a delicious meal together with out husbands and partners. This is certainly a milestone for our auxiliary and we salute our longest serving members Gail Simpson, Jan Roberts and Robyn Anderson each celebrating 37 years and Dianne Fix, and Robyn Riseley each celebrating 35 years.
Our latest purchase for the Casualty and Emergency Department is the BP Blood Gas Machine valued at over $40,000. We are thrilled that this machine has a;ready made a significant impact producing blood results in seconds. Dr Simon Young spoke about the efficiency of this blood machine and we are very proud to be in the position to make this possible. We’re waiting to hear what the next piece of equipment will be for us to purchase for the Casualty and Emergency Department.
We look forward to the coming year, doing what we can and are ready to raise funds needed to make a difference, even in a small way, for the sick children and young adolescents at The Royal Children’s Hospital.
For the past 2 years at Christmas we have supported the homeless adolescents through the Centre for Adolescent Youth by collecting essential toiletries and other necessities which were given to the kids when they came through the Centre for medical issues. These were placed in the Royal Children’s Hospital Christmas bags, which were a perfect receptacle for the goods.
I wish to thank all my fellow Auxiliary members for their ongoing encouragement and support. Appreciation is extended to out Secretary, Robyn and our Treasurer, Joy for their ongoing hard work keeping us updated with the correspondence and banking details.
We look forward to another enjoyable year.
