Research at The Royal Children's Hospital
The Royal Children's Hospital's commitment to research has been evident since the establishment in 1960 of the RCH Research Foundation, later the RCH Research Institute.
The Murdoch Institute operated in parallel with the RCHRI at Royal Children's Hospital until the two merged in 2000 to form the Murdoch Childrens Research Institute .
The Murdoch Childrens Research Institute is based at the Royal Children's Hospital and provides a dedicated research precinct on site. The institute encompasses laboratory, clinical and public health approaches in its work. The collaboration and integration between research and clinical care result in better research, and better health care for children and young people.
The University of Melbourne also maintains a high research profile at the Royal Children's Hospital through the research activities of the Department of Paediatrics. The Department has close research partnerships with the Royal Children's Hospital and Murdoch Childrens Research Institute.
