Efficiency and Information

The Efficiency and Information streams responsibility is to ensure the provision of services based on scientific knowledge to all who can benefit and to avoid services which are not likely to produce benefit.

Functions

  • Leadership and championing
    • To work closely with health care professionals to develop evidence based procedures /clinical guidelines for care delivery
  • Collaborating
    • Sharing of quality improvement learnings learnings from the organisation with the organisation
  • Facilitating
    • To facilitate the analysis and reporting of variances from the agreed procedures/guidelines 
    • Development of tools to evaluate the efficacy of the new procedures (evaluation)
    • Where sufficient evidence -base does not exist , to facilitate its development
  • Promoting effectiveness
    • Clinical Audit - facilitate and support the development and reporting of CA for all clinical areas
    • Administration and oversight of policies, procedures and guidelines
    • Accreditation - facilitation and coordination of ACHS EQuIP4 Accreditation program
    • Collation of information regarding other accreditation occurring throughout RCH (i .e. college, NATA etc)
    • Coordination of committee governance structures and processes
  • Sharing the knowledge
    • Coordination of the Annual Quality of Care report development, promotion
    • Award/conference application support and promotion
    • Facilitate reporting of departments via governance structure on how they are meeting their quality requirements
  • Specific skills required by the staff in this stream include:
    • Clinical experience
    • Specific expertise in the systematic review of the effects of healthcare interventions (e.g.  Cochrane methodology)
    • Data management and reporting skills
