The Child and Family Psychology Clinic (CFC) is a state-wide fee for service clinic that provides specialist clinical psychology assessment and treatment to children, adolescents and their families for a range of issues; encompassing behavioural, social, emotional and learning problems in infants, children, adolescents and their families.
The Child and Family Psychology Clinic (CFP) come under the overall management of Professor Vicki Anderson and Dr Lesley Bretherton, Psychology; and Bella Saunders is the Coordinator.
Our CFP staff are all highly skilled in the area of child clinical psychology and have extensive experience in clinical psychology and paediatric issues.
All clinicians are either registered psychologists or supervised provisional psychologists (Psychology Interns). Clinicians adhere to the professional codes of the Australian Psychological Society and the Psychologists' Registration Board of Victoria.

The Learning Differences Centre (formerly known as “The Learning Difficulties Centre”) has recently been integrated into our Child and Family Psychology Clinic. This service was originally established over 10 years ago and has an outstanding professional reputation for providing comprehensive psychological assessments for school aged children experiencing academic difficulties.
This service is staffed by specialist clinical, educational and neuropsychology staff and interns.
We also have a small special education/remedial service based on evidenced based practices in supporting student’s learning needs (both in literacy and numeracy skills).
The CFP welcomes referrals for consultation and training to community agencies and health professionals.
The service also offers clinical supervision to psychologists, psychology interns and other mental health staff.
How to attend the clinic:
Individuals and families can ring the clinic on 9345 5917 if they or a family member is in need of psychological help. An intake clinician will discuss the referral process.
Health Practitioners can refer clients with psychological needs, directly under the new Medicare Better Access Programs.
Child, family, and community agencies from across the state can refer clients for assessment, support, and therapy.
The Child and Family Psychology Clinic (CFP) is committed to low-cost clinical psychology care. Supervised clinical psychology intern services are available for consultations at reduced fees.
Referrals will be accepted under the new Medicare Better Access Programs. Additional charges will apply for written reports if required.
Fees for professional supervision, consultation, training, and project development are available on request.
Families may be eligible for private health insurance rebates in certain situations. However, it is not possible to claim health insurance rebates and Medicare rebates for the same consultation.
