About the Plastic and Maxillofacial Surgery Department
| The Plastic and Maxillofacial Surgery Department provides a full range of plastic, oral, and maxillofacial surgery services to children. With the development of expertise in specific areas, a number of sections have formed that offer the highest standard of care in the highly specialised management of various conditions including craniofacial anomalies, cleft lip and palate, and paediatric limb surgery.
Post-graduate education has been integral to the activities and philosophy of departmental activities with training posts at several levels. Clinical and experimental research is part of the continued development and evolution of the department. Our surgeons present our work at many national and international meetings and regular educational meetings are held at our hospital. |

New 3-dimensional CameraThe Department recently unveiled its new 3dMD camera system purchased with a donation very generously provided by the Muriel and Les Batten Foundation. Our surgeons will use this advanced technology to view and assess 3d images of patients to assist in their planning, auditing and assessment of patients. The RCH is the first hospital in Australasia to use this technology. |
